Aptis is an English assessment tool designed by the British Council. It is an effective tool to assess ability in all four English skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing. It is designed to help any organization or institution identify the level of English proficiency of their employees or students and find the group of potential people with desired set of skills as well as highlight areas for improvement.
Aptis is designed to be flexible and accessible, meaning more people can be assessed quickly and affordably. It allows you to test the skills relevant to your requirements accurately and get results within as little as 3 working days.
The test combines a core grammar and vocabulary component with one or more of the skills components to give you an accurate and relevant assessment result.
By allowing you to test only the skills you wish to test, you can benchmark English language levels for your studnets – saving you time and money.
Candidate performance in each skill is mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). An Aptis candidate will receive a score on a numerical scale (0 to 50) for the grammar and vocabulary section, and a score on a numerical scale (0 – 50) and CEFR level (A1 – C) for each skill they take. This will make up the candidate’s profile of language proficiency.
The beauty of Aptis is that it can be designed as per the need of the organization and any combination of the four skills can be selected for employees or students. It can also be used to test just one or two skills, such as reading and listening (combined with the built-in grammar and vocabulary component). The content of the test is suitable for different domains such as business, travel and tourism, or education.
The test is computer based and can test all the four skills. Aptis is very flexible and candidates choose when, how and in what way to test, to ensure they get the results they need. For better clarification of Aptis among students.
Aptis is made up of components which are taken in packages rather than individually. The grammar and vocabulary components are the compulsory modules which you select with any combination of the listening, reading, speaking and writing components.
